AFIP IS AFTER DEBTORS WHO DID NOT JOIN THE “ACUERDO FISCAL” (TAX AMNESTY)
|
| |
|
After the expiration of the tax amnesty, the number of collection actions went up – in number of prosecutions, garnishments ordered, and amounts ; |
|
In October there was a 100% increase in the number of cases and a 266% increase in the amounts claimed worth over 562 million pesos. |

| |
The Federal Administration of Public Revenues (AFIP), headed by Lawyer Ricardo Echegaray, commenced 36,306 legal actions for debt collection worth over 562,605,689 pesos. Furthermore, garnishments were ordered for over 310,000,000 pesos on funds and values deposited in financial institutions by delinquent taxpayers.
The comparison between the amounts and number of legal actions commenced in October in relation to August – when the tax amnesty ended – reveals that there have been a 100% increase in the number of cases and a 266% increase in the amounts claimed, i.e. in August there were 18,095 claims worth 153,609,000 pesos and in October there were 36,306 cases worth 562,605,689 pesos.
Garnishments ordered against taxpayers
In addition, in October AFIP received a positive response from financial institutions and was able to have garnishments - worth 310,147,244 pesos - ordered against delinquent taxpayers. This represents a 67.13% rise regarding the same month last year.
The exponential growth in the number of prosecutions and amounts is part of the strategy drawn up in AFIP 2009 Management Plan for lowering default significantly.
